If 30% of a number is 270 then find the number.

or

30% of what number is 270 ?

(Ans. 900)

Solution:

Let the number is X

then as given

30% of X = 270

`\frac {30}{100}` ｘ X  = 270

or

X  = `\frac {100}{30}` ｘ 270

X  = 900 -----------Ans.
