To find the Total votes when percentage of votes cast are given (WP-9: Percentage %)

In a polling station 2450 votes were cast. Which is the 70% of the total votes. Then find the total number of votes for that polling station.  (Ans. 3500 votes)

Given:

Votes cast = 2450

Percentage of votes cast  = 70 % 

To Find:

Total number of votes = ?

Solution:

As given 

70% of Total votes =  2450 votes

or

`\frac {70}{100}` of Total votes =  2450 votes 

or 

Total votes =  `\frac {70}{100}`  ｘ 2450 votes

Total votes = 3500 votes
