Key Fact:
  • When we divide a whole number by 10, we remove one zero to the right-side of the number
  • When we divide a whole number by 100, we remove two zero to the right-side of the number
  • When we divide a whole number by 1 000, we remove three zero to the right-side of the number



Solution: 


a)  49 000

49 000 ÷ 10 =  4 900
49 000 ÷ 100 = 490
49 000 ÷ 1 000 = 49


b)    78 000

78 000 ÷ 10 =  7 800
78 000 ÷ 100 = 780
78 000 ÷ 1 000 = 78


c)    65 000

65 000 ÷ 10 =  6 500
65 000 ÷ 100 = 650
65 000 ÷ 1 000 = 65


d)    597 000

597 000 ÷ 10 = 59 700 
597 000 ÷ 100 = 5 970
597 000 ÷ 1 000 = 597

210 000 ÷ 10 = 21 000

5. Aliya has Rs. 22 580. She wants to distribute it among 18 people.
a) How much money will each person get? 
b) How much money will be left?



Solution: 


a)

To find how much money will each person get, we will divide Rs. 22 580 by 18. So


Each person will get Rs. 1 254 equally.


b) The Remainder Rs. 8 will be the money left with Alia.

6. Omar's monthly income is Rs. 13 582. Find his total income in 3 years.


Solution: 

To find the total income in three years we will multiply the monthly income Rs 13 582 with 3 . So

  

Thus the total income is three years is Rs. 40 746

7. A toy factory manufactures 28 550 toys in 25 days. How many toys will it manufacture in one day?   


Solution: 


To find number of toys manufactured in one day we will divide the number 28 550 by 25.



Thus the number of toys 
manufactured  in one day is 1  142

8. Hammad bought one laptop, for Rs. 89 710. Find the price of 10 such laptops.


Solution: 

To find price of 10 laptops when one laptop price is given, we will multiply the price Rs. 89 710 by 10.



Thus the price of 10 laptops are Rs. 987 800

9. There are 145 boxes of pencils each containing 5 pencils. If 48 boxes have blue pencils and the rest have red pencils, find: 
a) the total number of pencils.
b) the number of red pencils.


Solution: 

a) To find the total number of pencils we will multiply 145 by 5



Thus the total number o pencils are 725


b) To find the number of red pencils. we will first find blue pencils by multiplying 48 by 5 and will subtract it from total number of pencils 725



Red Pencils = Total Pencils  - Blue Pencils 

Red Pencils = 725  - 240

Red Pencils = 485 ----------------Ans.
