To Find the General Sale Tax GST % when M.P, and GST Amount are given (WP-1: General Sale Tax - GST)

Nabeel bought a bag for Rs.4,000 and paid Rs.560 more as GST. Find the percentage of GST.

Given:

Marked Price (M.P) of Bag = Rs. 4,000
GST Paid = Rs. 560

To Find:

Percentage (%) of GST  =?

Solution:

Method-I (Using Simple Calculation of Percentage %) that is

Percentage of GST = `{\frac{Rs. 560}{Rs. 4000}}`x100

(This Formula is just like that ones find the percentage of Obtained Marks out of Total marks)

Percentage of GST = 14%

Method-II (Using Formula for GST %) that is

We will require the Sale Price (S.P)

Sale Price (S.P) = Marked Price (M.P) of Bag + GST Paid

Sale Price (S.P) = Rs. 4,000 + Rs. 560

Sale Price (S.P) = Rs. 4,560

So, By putting values

Percentage of GST `\frac{(Rs. 4560 - Rs. 4000)}{Rs. 4000}` x 100

Percentage of GST = 14%
