To find which is better discount? when Marked price and discount are known (Problem-2: Discount)

Q. Which is better discount?

(i) Discount of Rs. 12 on M.P of Rs. 100
(ii) Discount of Rs. 110 on M. P of Rs. 1000 

Hint: Convert both the discount into discount percent (%) and then compare it.

(i) Discount of Rs. 12 on M.P of Rs. 100

Solution: 

Since 

Discount % = `frac {Rs. 12}{Rs. 100}times 100` 

Discount %  = 12 % -----------Ans.1

(ii) Discount of Rs. 110 on M. P of Rs. 1000 

Solution: 

Since 

Discount % = `frac {Rs. 110}{Rs. 1000}times 100` 

Discount %  = 11 % -----------Ans.2

Thus the discount of part (1) is better discount.
